DIONNE WARWICK & FRIENDS .. ROYAL ALBERT HALL .. MAY 28TH 2012
Apart from been a hugh admirer of Dionne since the late 70's, it was wonderful to support The Hunger Project, as I did last year when the Dionne & Friends Gala was held at The Apollo Victoria.. It was great to see the Royal Albert Hall filled for the event and as expected the show went off wonderfully. Along with Dionne, those lending their support and their time and talents were Cliff Richard, Boy George, Mica Paris, Tony Hadley, Alexandra Burke, Rumer, Caro Emerald, Joe McElderry, Katie Melu, Jumoke Fashola, London Community Gospel Choir, Southbank Sinfonia and Angela Rippon...

DIONNE WITH JOE |
Sixties songtress Sandie Shaw was set to appear, but she fell ill just before the event. Dionne who has just started her 50th Anniversary Tour was on fine form and treated the audience to a selection of her many classic hits.. All of the artists had star turns of their own, before returning to duet with Dionne in the second half of the show..
You can see the programme order below...I was delighted to attend the after show party, held in the halls popular Elgar Room and managed to chat to Angela Rippon, a patron of the charity.. Also spoke to Alexandra Burke and Joe McElderry, along with Tony Hadley and the legendary Tony Hatch who was conducting the show..
Always a pleasure to attend a show at The Royal Albert Hall, will be back there in October for the Calender Girls Gala and in November for the 100th Anniversary Royal Variety Performance! Speaking to Tim Holder who organised the show, he hopes to make The Royal Albert, the gala's home for the next Dionne & Friends spectacular.. I am sure he will make that happen and I look forward to taking my seat for another wonderful night of legendary sights and sounds!
