JACK JONES ... NATIONAL CONCERT HALL DUBLIN.. MAY 12TH 2013..

With Jack after the show
Jack Jones is one of the greatest voices of the past 50 years and it was a thrill to catch the first night of his latest tour which began in Dublin before embarking on an 18day tour of the UK, including a night at the legendary London Palladium on May 26th.. Jack is still in fine voice and started the show with 'A Song For You'.. As this tour is billed as his 'Farewell' he decided to show a video presentation of clips 'Through The Years' which featured his family, friends he has sung with and fans.. However the video had been running twenty minutes when the audience started to protest, as they had come to hear Jack sing and not watch a video!
Jack was shaken but not stirred and stopped the clips and started to sing.. He of course included his popular songs 'Wives & Lovers' and 'Love Boat' he also included songs he hadn't sung in years including 'Something' 'She' & 'If You Go Away' as a tribute to his late father. Jack ended the show with 'The Impossible Dream'.. All in all a great show and in todays raft of forgettable performances by mediocre artists, it is always a pleasure to see a master of song at work....

  1. I was also there on Jack's opening night in Dublin - I also went to the rest of his concerts on his farewell tour - being a huge JJ fan. I felt very sorry for Jack as he had obviously took a lot of time and effort compiling all these clips of him and his friends (pleased to say I was on the video, as one of his many admirers) - I for one wanted to watch the entire video. I realise for others who may not be such avid admirers but like to hear Jack sing it would be too much. However, I was delighted when Jack won the audience round - not easy after a bad start and they ended up giving him standing ovations and queuing up for his autograph and congratulating him on his performance. Sheer talent won in the end - well done Jack for the way you handled a tricky evening, a true professional with ooodles of talent! Sally Eastwood
