LA CAGE AUX FOLLES .. MENIER CHOCOLATE FACTORY .. LONDON . JANUARY 2008 ..

One of the most enduring shows of popular musical theatre is the award winning 'La Cage Aux Folles', which features the wonderful music of Jerry Herman.. I have seen many productions of this show over the years and was thrilled to catch this revival in 2008.. This production was a sell out at the intimate Menier Chocolate Factory which is off London Bridge.. The show was so successful that a full scale transfer to the West End followed soon after ... Will feature that in a later post.. Douglas Hodge and Philip Quast lead the cast in this production, also appearing in this was the always reliable Una Stubbs... The show opened on Broadway in 1983 and won six Tony Awards, it starred Gene Barry and George Hearn.. Always a joy to watch, with wonderful songs including 'The Best Of Times' and the classic 'I Am What I Am', it is a show that will continue to be revived every few years.. A production with George Hamilton is currently on tour in the USA at the moment..
