CABARET .. LYRIC THEATRE LONDON .. JANUARY 2008 ..
The mere mention of 'Cabaret' and the legendary Liza Minnelli comes to mind, but before the Oscar winning film starring Liza, there was a hit Broadway musical which opened in 1966, written by Kander & Ebb, who is synonomus with Liza, it starred Jill Haworth, Bert Convy, Lotte Lenya, Jack Gilford, with Joel Gray as the MC. Joel went on to star in the film and win an Oscar to boot.. The first London production at The Palace theatee in 1968 starred Judi Dench.. Many other revivals appeared over the years, including this one from 2008, with Julian Clary as The MC and Emmerdale star Amy Nuttall as Sally..This version of the show is a much darker one than others, especially the film version.. As I speak another London production is set to open at The Savoy theatre with Will Young as The MC and Eastenders star Michelle Ryan as Sally.. I am sure it will be a success....
